Into the Wild. Addo Adventure with Superior Load Cover

By John Smith

John Smith’s testimonial shares how his full Superior setup handled a gritty Transkei journey and an Addo safari with ease.

We entered Addo Elephant National Park coated in Wild Coast dust and adventure stories. After a week of off-grid camping through the Transkei, our bakkie looked the part—mud-splashed and proudly road-worn. But beneath that rugged surface, everything we packed remained bone-dry, dust-free, and secure. The unsung hero? Our Superior Load Cover setup.

Before we left Coffee Bay, I finally did what I’d been thinking about for months—mounted a Superior Bed Rack above our cover. After learning the load cover could handle 500kg of distributed weight, the decision made itself. Two spare tyres, fuel cans, and a recovery kit sat strapped up top, while the lockable cover and cargo slider below gave us easy access to everything else—cooking gear, tents, towels, and dry food—without digging through a mess.

Every early morning game drive meant quick, silent retrieval of essentials. The smooth-glide slider and slam-free closing system made even those pre-sunrise starts feel effortless. No noisy rattling, no stiff lids, no flapping tarps. Just a clean, quick open and close, even after hundreds of kilometers of bone-jarring dirt roads.

And that’s where the dustproof seal really proved its worth. Addo’s gravel tracks churn up fine, invasive dust that finds its way into everything—except our kit. The cover’s weather-resistant, lockable design meant total peace of mind. No soggy sleeping bags, no missing gear, no stress.

Park rules meant staying inside the vehicle, so we admired the elephants from our windows as they crossed quietly ahead. Knowing our gear was safe and secure allowed us to fully immerse in the moment—with nothing to worry about but spotting the next kudu.

Our final morning was misty and golden. We slid out the coffee gear, packed up camp in minutes, and hit the N2 home. The Superior Load Cover had taken everything we threw at it—weight, weather, wild roads—and delivered performance that let us focus on the journey, not the logistics.

Addo gave us elephants, stillness, and starlit evenings. Superior gave us peace of mind, smooth access, and the freedom to roam a little further next time.
