This testimonial was written by Micheal Brown following a weekend escape to the Drakensberg, where he road-tested the full Superior Load Cover accessory range.
The crunch of tyres on gravel signaled our arrival at the foot of the Drakensberg. After hours on the road, the kids tumbled out of the bakkie while I slid out the cargo tray with one hand—camp stove, cooler box, and our folding table ready in seconds. It hit me how much time and effort this setup was saving.
Before the trip, I debated whether to mount a rack system at all. But once I learned that the Superior Load Cover could carry 500kg of evenly distributed weight, the decision was easy. I added the Superior Bed Rack and basket combo—and never looked back.
On previous trips, unpacking meant climbing into the bakkie bed, shoving gear around like a puzzle. But now, with the bed rack system carrying jerry cans, hiking gear, tent, ammo boxes, and firewood up top, and the cargo slider keeping backpacks, and heavy items like crates and cooking gear within arm’s reach, it was effortless.
That night, a sudden gust of wind swept through camp. I heard a clatter, rushed to the bakkie—and everything was exactly where we’d strapped it. The basket’s tie-down points held fast, and our food supplies on the slider stayed dry and sealed under the Load Cover. No scrambling for tarps. No stress.
Over the next two days—between icy river swims, mountain hikes, and roadside braais—I watched the whole setup shine. Jacket at the bottom of a crate? One pull of the slider. Grid and cooler? Ready without unpacking. The bed rack’s height clearance also let us stow tall water containers without any awkward squeezing.
The journey home was just as smooth. Camp gear up top, bags below, and everything locked down tight. Even on the pothole-pocked stretch back to Harrismith, the rack didn’t shift an inch, and the Superior Load Cover glided open just as smoothly as when we left.
Looking back, this trip wasn’t just a success because of the scenery—it was because we were prepared for it all. And that all started with choosing the right setup. The Superior Load Cover and Bed Rack system didn’t just carry our gear. It carried the trip.
