This is a personal testimonial written by Ryan Nicolle, sharing his family’s real-world experience using the Superior Load Cover on a week-long road trip.
Our family holiday began with the rumble of the bakkie’s engine as we set off from Swellendam, the kids bouncing with excitement in the backseat. The first highlight came sooner than expected – as we entered the cool darkness of the Huguenot Tunnel, Mia, our five-year-old, squealed with delight at the echoing sounds. Emerging on the other side, we were greeted by the breathtaking sight of the Du Toits Kloof mountains, their rugged peaks cutting dramatic silhouettes against the morning sky. We pulled over at the viewpoint, the Superior Load Cover making it effortless to grab our jackets as a crisp mountain breeze swept through the valley.
With our Superior Load Cover securely in place, we’d packed with confidence – camping gear, snacks, and toys all neatly stowed yet easily accessible. Unlike our old cover that needed wrestling to close, this one sealed with just a gentle push – no slamming required. That convenience became our trip’s unsung hero time and again.
The real test came just outside Swellendam when the skies opened up. While other travelers scrambled with flapping tarps, we simply watched raindrops bead off our sturdy cover. Inside, everything stayed perfectly dry. Abigail, already a pro at operating the cover, proudly unlocked it with her own key (under Dad’s watchful eye) to check her favorite stuffed toy was safe.
Our adventures unfolded in a whirlwind of fun – from battling windmills, curving hills and slopes on the mini-putt course to shrieking down waterslides at ATKV Hartenbos waterslides and Adventure Land in Plett! Each stop was made easier by the cover’s smooth operation. Need a towel? Abigail could slide it open herself. Time for snacks? Just a turn of the key and we were in. No more bruised palms from forcing stubborn covers closed!
The pinnacle came at Mossel Bay Zipline (longest zipline over ocean water in the world!) Looking down at our bakkie, I smiled knowing our gear was secure. Later, exhausted but happy, the cover opened effortlessly for our bags – no sticky mechanisms or forceful slamming required.
The trip was slowly coming to an end and the journey home was the final test for our Superior Load Cover. As we traveled the N2, traffic suddenly ground to a halt – a serious accident ahead forced a complete road closure. With dusk approaching, we had to turn back to Heidelberg and take a poorly maintained 30km detour along bumpy backroads.
In the past, this would have been a white-knuckle ride – our old roller cover would have rattled ominously, sometimes even bursting open on rough terrain. But the Superior Load Cover didn’t budge an inch. Locked securely in place, it allowed me to focus entirely on navigating the treacherous road rather than worrying about our belongings.
As we finally reached smoother tarmac near home, I realized how much stress the cover had saved us. From mountain passes to emergency detours, through rain and rough roads, it had performed flawlessly. Abigail slept peacefully in the back, completely unaware of the challenging drive, while our gear remained as secure as when we’d first packed it.
As we unpacked after a week of adventures, we realized what made this trip extraordinary wasn’t just the stunning landscapes from Du Toits Kloof to water slide fun in ATKV In Hartenbos, but how the Superior Load Cover transformed travel stress into effortless enjoyment. From mountain passes to beach picnics, through rain and shine, it protected our gear while giving even our youngest traveler independence.
With memories of zip-lines and mountain vistas fresh in our minds, we’re already dreaming of our next journey. The Wild Coast calls – and with our Superior Load Cover, we know we’re ready for anything, one smooth, slam-free opening at a time.
